On September 1, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Tokai Group took part in the "Hana Ippai Project (모바일 카지노 flowerbeds)" held at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens (Nagoya City, Chikusa-ku).

This project is a flowerbed-making activity that is organized by Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens three times a year in spring, summer and autumn in cooperation with other corporations and groups to transform the botanical garden into a place that is full of flowers.

Corporations and groups taking part in this activity help to perform work such as transplanting the flower seedlings and weeding at the flower fields and flowerbeds as part of the social contribution, environmental conservation and public welfare programs.

At the same time, schools also participate in this event as part of their flower and environmental education efforts to allow children to feel the importance of life and biodiversity by having them come into contact with soil through a series of maintenance.

A total of 170 participants from Tokai Group, including employees, family members and retirees, took part in the event.

Despite the poor weather conditions with rain since the early morning, participants showed up in raincoats and umbrellas. Rain stopped when the event started, and we were able to proceed with the activity as planned.

The original plan was to plant dahlia and zinnia seedlings in the autumn flowerbeds, but we were told that dahlia seedlings were not available due to the heat wave this summer, so NTT West Group prepared a total of 4,500 zinnia seedlings for the flowerbeds.

Participants were assigned to one of the three flowerbeds where they started planting work under the guidance of the botanical garden staff. The first step before planting was to identify the spot for planting the seedlings by ensuring that they are evenly spaced and neatly arranged. Participants then proceed to plant each of the seedlings carefully while paying attention not to step on them.

The half-day work was carried out on unstable ground, but nonetheless the activity ended with no injury.

After the planting activity, all participants including those from other companies took a commemorative photo with the flowerbeds as the backdrop. Flowerbeds filled with colorful blossoms can be expected in late September.

The period for the autumn flowerbed-making activity is a short duration that lasts until October 21.
While hot weather is expected to continue, the participants will visit the garden again to record the growth of the flowers in photos and share them on the website in reports with comments.

NTT West Tokai Group will continue to engage in this effort in order to involve as many employees as possible in the environmental conservation activities.
