On June 9, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Gifu Group held a forest volunteer activity at "Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori".
Weather was rainy on the night before and it was unsure if the event could be held, but the rain stopped before dawn and the event was held as scheduled.
Participants weeded undergrowth and performed cleaning around the acorn saplings that were planted in the past activities to prevent the saplings from being covered grass. Work was tough as the ground was muddy and slippery, but thanks to the cooperation of everyone, the forest became amazingly cleaner.
In order for participants to learn about the wonderful nature of the forest, an event was held to introduce "cynops pyrrhogaster" and "luehdorfia japonica" on panels. At the end of the activity, a popular hands-on workshop to experience "yoseue" (group planting) of seasonal flowers was held. Participants were delighted as the activity stirred up interest among them toward flowers, and they are keen to take part in the workshop again next time. We hope the participants will grow flowers at their home with care to create an environment that is full of greenery.
NTT West Gifu Group will continue to engage actively in such environmental conservation efforts for the activity to take root on a wide scale.
