On June 11, 2016 (Saturday), 47 employees, family members and former employees of NTT West Gifu Group took part in a forest volunteer activity to weed undergrowth at "Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori" located at Mitabora of Gifu City.
Although it was held during the rainy season, the sky was clear on the day of the event. Besides the adults who engaged in the weeding work with grass cutters while drenching in sweat under the hot sun, children who participated also helped out while they struggled with using bamboo brooms which they were not used to.
Thanks to their hard work, the forest looked clean again in no time. Surrounded by the large amount of negative ions in the fresh greenery, the expressions of the participants were also radiant.
At the end of the activity, a hands-on session was held to experience "yoseue" (group planting) of seasonal flowers, which was well received by the previous participants.
Participants enjoyed the process from choosing flowers to arranging them, with some commenting happily that the flowers that were planted at the last activity were still blooming beautifully.
By having the participants bring home and take care of the plants that were planted at the "yoseue" activity, we hope they will be able to create a green environment at home too.
