The "Donguri (Acorn) Project" is a project for "foster parent" volunteers from all parts of Japan to adopt acorns collected from the disaster-stricken regions and grow them into saplings before they are returned to therea.
NTT West Okayama Group decided to be part of this effort with the hope "to contribute to planting trees at and regenerating the coastal forests and hills with the ecosystem of the disaster-affected areas taken into consideration."
We started to call for participation as "foster parents" of the acorns in January 2014, and started to distribute acorns that were sent to us from the "Project-D" secretariat.
After a period of about two years, 97 saplings that were grown with great care by the foster parents were returned to their respective hometowns in Iwate, 미야기와 후쿠시마 on April 21, 2016.
We would like to thank the employees and family members for their support and participation in this activity as foster parents.
We also sincerely hope that the acorns that were grown into saplings and returned to the hills in their hometown will grow healthily and contribute to the revitalization and greening efforts of the region.
