Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 119Protection of Endangered Species "Japanese Rosy Bitterling" 바카라 카지노ration of Satoyama (Village Forests) May 30, 2015 NTT West Nara Group
As part of the biodiversity conservation activities, Nara Business Unit has been providing support since 2011 to the protection of Korean rosy bitterling, an endangered species, as well as the restoration of satoyama (village forests) around the pond where the fish inhabits. These activities are conducted by the Faculty of Agriculture, Kindai University in the school campus.
A total of about 20 employees and family members of Nara Business Unit as well as NTT West group companies including NTT West Head Office took part in this activity, during which they engaged in the maintenance of the environment around the pond (trimming of plants) as part of the "satoyama restoration activity."
The event kicked off with a briefing on the objectives of the activity by the associate professor of Environmental Management Department, Faculty of Agriculture, 킨다이 대학, after which the participants engaged in the actual work.
According to the associate professor, thick bushes that are left untrimmed will attract wild boars, leading to damage of the village forest. They do not seem to step foot into areas that are well maintained, hence the reason for holding this activity.
Participants were allocated with tasks to trim plants that were about 50cm tall with a sickle or cut those that grew close to 2m (kuma bamboo grass, etc.) using one of the four grass cutters.
Blessed with fine weather on the day of the event, the area was drastically transformed into a clean place in about two hours, thanks to the hard work of the participants who worked up a good sweat. Also, light was able to penetrate through to brighten up the areas around the pond, which was dark prior to the activity, and participants felt refreshed upon seeing the transformation.
We believe the Japanese Rosy Bitterlings also enjoyed the change.
This activity is held about five times a year.
The main activities that are scheduled include maintenance of environment in May, rice planting in June, scarecrow making in September, rice harvesting in October and water draining in December.
NTT West Nara Business Unit will continue to engage in the "Protection of Endangered Species Korean Rosy Bitterling 바카라 카지노ration of Satoyama (Village Forests)" activity in future, and we look forward to the participation of many employees and their family.
